How it plays

Mystery Gambler trades the studio's game worlds for eighties neon — chrome lettering, a wireframe triangle and rays of purple and gold. The base game is the familiar one: dice into four three-by-three slots, combinations scored against the points table, multipliers for three or four winning slots, plus a bonus buy control for players who would rather not wait for the dice. The bonus asks one question and then keeps asking it. A rung column climbs to sixteen mysteries, each attempt spins an eight-segment wheel, and every rung puts the same choice up — collect what you are holding, or gamble it for the step above.

  • Gamble ladder: collect what you hold, or climb
  • An eight-segment wheel on every attempt
  • Rungs climbing to 16 mysteries
  • Bonus buy control in the base game
  • Four 3x3 dice slots filled by placement

The bonus

Two other bonuses let you turn an award down. This one makes you stake it: every rung offers what you are holding against the next rung up, and the wheel decides whether you get there.

Collect, or climb

  1. 01Spinning for 2 mysteries — collect what the ladder holds, or climb.
  2. 02Spinning for 4 mysteries — collect what the ladder holds, or climb.
  3. 03Spinning for 6 mysteries — collect what the ladder holds, or climb.
  4. 04Spinning for 8 mysteries — collect what the ladder holds, or climb.
  5. 05Spinning for 12 mysteries — collect what the ladder holds, or climb.
  6. 06Spinning for 16 mysteries — collect what the ladder holds, or climb.

Trigger

Three matching bonus dice.

The bonus die

Three bonus dice landing alike is what opens the bonus game. The bonus is then what pays out — mysteries, points, and on some games a cash prize — and the Mystery counter in the status bar tracks what has been banked.

How it runs

  1. 01Three matching bonus dice open the ladder.
  2. 02Each attempt spins for the rung above.
  3. 03Collect takes the current rung and ends the round.
  4. 04Gamble risks it, and the ladder runs well past where most rounds stop.

What the bonus is worth

The base prize ladder is steep: 100 points pays €2, and only a full 1000 pays €100.
